Neptune Enters Pisces Today

Friday, February 3rd, 2012 | 2012, Astrology, Channeling, Mayan Calendar, Neptune, Pisces | No Comments

Overall, this ingress is an opportunity to come to know ourselves as spiritual, divine beings having human experiences, and not the sum of our histories and memories.

Before the wonderful uplifting elements of Neptunian energy can really be experienced, though, we have to shed illusion, deception, false hopes, and escapism. We have to become utterly present to the truth of what precisely is happening and why, as well as what is our part in it.

With this ingress we’ll hear from astrologers that it’s time to celebrate because a new age is here and other things like that. Because the volume on Neptune energy is now going to be turned up (it just entered what is considered its own sign), all Neptunian elements of self need to be checked in with and – if you want to actually evolve with this transit – brought into the present tense.

Look at what you tend to want to escape. There is a “why” that is craving to be seen. Neptune is simultaneously illusion and truth, and each and every one of us can get caught up in the illusion or facade before we find the truth. But the illusion seems like the truth and part of us wants the illusion to be real – and so there’s a setup for deluding the self.

We each need meaning in our lives and to feel part of a greater whole. We don’t have to allow ourselves to be deceived by appearances, wishing, escapism, and false hopes. We can choose to orient toward the truth no matter what and stay focused on the vibration of truth, leaving behind what part of us hopes turns out to be truth.

This combo of Neptune and Pisces asks us to release identities that no longer serve us. We can thrive by releasing conceptions of self and moving into a greater level of awareness of who we are and what we’re doing here. It tells us that to evolve now spiritually, we must leave behind all attitudes, choices, and behaviors that separate us from our personal truth. It says that if want to mature spiritually we simply must stop escaping the reality of our feelings, thoughts, and lives – we must choose to stop escaping the experience of being us.

Tomorrow begins the next “Soul Healing: Forgiveness” e-course built around channeled teachings from Djehuty – a.k.a. Thoth and St Germain – to help you release false and illusion-based identities across time, which is to say in all of your soul’s various lives as a human. This is powerful work and timed perfectly for Neptune’s ingress to the sign of surrender.

You are not your histories. You are not your choices. You are not how you have been treated by others and how you have treated others. You are a Divine being learning what it is to be human, which involves making choices through free will and then dealing with the results of those choices.

Are you ready to release the past? Are you willing to come into and live in the present tense?

Join me for the e-course beginning tomorrow – it will change your life in wonderful ways and help you see how to get and be present as the Divine being that you are.

Mars Retrograde

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 | 2012, Aries, Astrology, Listening to the Body, Mars, Retrogrades, Virgo | No Comments

Mars now appears to be in backward motion from the Earth’s perspective. The energy affects us when it comes to desire, action, the use of will, self-assertion/-defense, and standing up for ourselves. This is in play from today to mid-April, when it stations direct at 3 Virgo 41.

How and why you do what you do is up for review. Your normal impetus to act might feel a bit stalled now and if so, take it as a cue to let your energy field get reset about how things get and why you do them. Why you choose what you do is part of this so let any indecision open the door in your awareness to see what might need adjusting when it comes to what you want and why.

Approximately every two years we get the chance to do this. The last time, from mid-December 2009 to early March 2010, it was in Leo, asking us to see more about and into how we live the normal human story of putting ourselves at the center of the world. We were invited to correct course when it came to being invested in our own personal opinions and the wonderful feeling of being right all the time that, as humans, is entirely within our God-given rights. (Well, anyone with that sort of feeling would have his or her head contacting numerous brick walls then.)

This time, it’s in Virgo. The story is radically different than with the last Mars retrograde. Virgo is about service, healing, subverting ego in the service of something or someone else, being a team player, taking responsibility, and improving things. One bottom line of this sign is that when we live life through it, we learn humility or we are humiliated. There is a fine line between the two and it has everything to do with our willingness to put ego in the back seat.

When we do Virgo well, we choose to submit to an external agenda and we don’t let it mean that our own personal needs are not important. Note the natural quincunx to Aries, a sign associated with Mars. Signs that are five away from each other such as these two share a natural misunderstanding of the other and, usually, there’s a sense of threat due to the entirely foreign nature each perceives the other to have. Virgo is the sign that pushes and pulls us into fitting in with an agenda that can work only if we back off from our individuality and personal interests.

Mars retroing in Virgo is going to ask all of us to check our egos but not as a valid criticism of self-interested action. It will ask us each to see how chilling out when it comes to our own agendas and desires can serve a purpose. At least at some points during this retrograde you will be drawn to take self-interested action – a Mars phrase – and be confronted with an invitation to humble yourself.

Well, what will you do?

Check the part of you that might react to the “humble yourself” bit. Again, this retrograde is not about defeating your ego or “putting it in its place,” but about supporting you in seeing how you might align your will to a cause that serves more than just yourself.

The flip side is where we might not act in self-interested ways but need to. Our normal Virgoan routines can be going along nicely, the same as usual, and during this transit we will be able to see into the effects and ramifications of never putting ourselves first. Again, Mars retro is all about a course correction when it comes to all Mars behavior and activity. If you’re too proud to serve, you need to humble yourself and do some service. If you’re too humble or humiliated to invest in yourself, you need to take self-interested action to do so.

Take stock now of what you want and why, and how much self-interested action you take – and judge none of it. If you serve a lot, it doesn’t mean you’re a good person. It means that you serve a lot. If you don’t serve a lot it doesn’t mean you’re a bad person – it means you’re someone who doesn’t serve a lot. Check in with yourself and see where the best use of your time and energy are in the moment. You might find yourself inspired to pitch in on someone else’s project or support someone in learning something that you know.

Karmic Profile of a Birthday Boy: David Bowie

Sunday, January 8th, 2012 | Astrology, Books, Karma, Leo, Pluto, Sagittarius, Uncategorized, Uranus, yod | No Comments

It’s a birthday profile – January 8 1947, 9:15 AM, Brixton England (rated AA).

David Bowie has his South Node (SN) in Sagittarius in the 10th house, conjunct Juno in the same sign and house. It’s also conjunct Venus in Sagittarius in the 9th.

Conjunct the North Node (NN) is retrograde Uranus in Gemini/4th. The SN ruler Jupiter is in Scorpio/9th, sextile Sun-Mars, square retro Pluto in Leo/7th, and inconjunct that Uranus. Uranus is actually the finger of a yod, too.

The SN in the 10th suggests that in his various lives, he’s defined by what he does for a living, or who he is in the world/outside the home. But his work is very Uranian, reflecting that he’s in touch with his inner Uranus and lets it inform his work. In the karmic past, he hasn’t gotten to really learn about and how to “do” Uranus, hence its conjunction to the NN – the SN is where we come from; anything opposite it is opposite where we are. But we know it’s part of us, so we can be determined to experience/express that part of ourselves, or feel we don’t get to/won’t be allowed to/don’t deserve to. › Continue reading

Resolutions: What, Why, and How

Our whole lives we’ve heard others make resolutions. Many of us have grown up to be the kind of people who make them. They are a deeply-rooted part of our experience in Western cultures.

Get fit, stop smoking, lose weight, swear less, eat better stop doing this or that – our lists of resolutions seem to never end. There is always something about ourselves that we’re pretty clear needs to be changed.

We’re professionals at judging ourselves, actually. The thing we do best is observing the vast gap between how we should be and how we in fact are.

Many resolutions center on how we treat ourselves. We judge what we eat and smoke and how much exercise we (don’t) get. Astrologically, I feel New Year’s resolutions fit with Saturn. The Sun is now in Capricorn as it is January 1st of any year, and Saturn rules this sign.

The last few years I’ve been inviting you to revisit your relationship with your inner Saturn. This is an archetype that exists within each of us and yet we tend to absorb others’ ideas and models of how to do it – and those models tend to be about judging what is in terms of what it is not, and criticizing instead of supporting. Check out Saturn Returns: Thinking Astrologically (use code PG9Y82E2 at checkout to get 20% off) for important and useful info on turning the inner judging voice into one of a loving authority figure or parent, something we all need.

If you’re someone inclined to make resolutions at this time of year, check the what, why, and how of your thought process. Don’t let a sense of inner pressure guide you. Choose to take back the power of your free will and actions from the inner judge and give it to a nurturing inner parent. Make changes in your life if you’re inclined to do so but do it because it’s important to treat yourself better, not because your life is a mess or because you do all these horrible things you shouldn’t do.

It’s so very easy to decide something needs to be changed because there’s something wrong with your choices, behaviors, or habits – or yourself. The inner judge is always on call to tell you what you’re doing wrong and when something seems to go wrong, that part of you jumps up to tell you there’s actually always been something wrong with you and this is proof of it.

Do it differently this year. Make a change because you want to be happier and healthier. Most of us feel deeply powerless about making changes, about changing our lives for the better but you can take this back at any time. Just after a new moon in Capricorn on the heels of the Winter Solstice, it’s a great time to do so.

Lastly, consider what you’ve been told and shown a resolution is. Extending the notion of changing the theme of Saturnian (i.e., hard-edged, rigid, burdensome, etc.) pressure, understand that when you make a choice based in a loving commitment to yourself so that you are healthier and happier, a resolution isn’t rigid. It isn’t a do-or-die thing. It isn’t a vow of abstinence or whatever other phrases we might toss in there. It is a movement in the direction of self-care and self-love.

When you move in that direction, you are less inclined to judge yourself for not being able to live up to unrealistic expectations that are riddled with the fear of self-judgment and the fear that you probably can’t measure up and follow through.

So be firm with yourself but for loving reasons – because you like being alive and having this human experience. And if you don’t, call me for a session and let’s get to the bottom of it.

Jupiter Stations Direct Tomorrow

Saturday, December 24th, 2011 | Astrology, Jupiter, Retrogrades, Sagittarius, Taurus | No Comments

As this happening tomorrow is in Taurus, where Jupiter is transiting your chart is a place where you need to slow down. Jupiter’s energy naturally is that of expansion and growth, but when it stations (appears from the Earth’s perspective to be stopping) these elements of life can seem a bit stalled.

You can keep trying to get something done or you can allow yourself to feel into the energies of the moment and allow yourself to slow down. The new moon in Capricorn this morning was trine this very slow Jupiter, so taking time to allow what’s truly important to be recognized (a Taurus strategy) can support the whatever it is that you can now birth within your world.

Look also to see the house on which you have Sagittarius on the cusp. The parts of life that fit with that house are also in need of slowing down some in the short term.

For me, it’s the 3rd house and in fact my voice could use some rest. I’ve been doing more readings than usual this month because of a sale and have also been doing a number of the increasingly popular Soul’s Journey Soundbite MP3 readings the last few weeks. So, ok – time to rest a bit. I’ll still work but won’t outside that be the 3rd house chatterbox I sometimes can be.

Where is Jupiter stationing in your chart? Where is Sagittarius in your chart?
What needs to get a bit of rest?

Today’s Capricorn New Moon

A new moon a couple of days after the Winter Solstice continues the invitation to spend quiet time within. New moons are for feeling and sensing into what’s up and going down in your life, and something needs to be birthed.

Many of us feel Capricorn energy as heavy and perhaps burdensome. Culturally and historically, we have had so many examples of this energy being restrictive in negative ways and requiring sacrifice for the wrong reasons that feeling consistently good about it can be a difficult, if not impossible.

With this archetype, I’m in the habit of broadcasting the invitation for everyone to look within and ascertain if their inner Saturn selves (this planet rules Capricorn) have donned the costume of a harsh critic or judge or if it has donned that of a solid, grounded, caring, and nurturing parent-type figure.

The difference is, simply, everything.

If you feel inside yourself today and see a critical judge staring back at you, understand that you’ve adopted others’ models of how to be mature, respectable, responsible, and how to be an adult and that those were in fact the wrong models.

Forgive others for showing you the harsh side of Saturn and choose to give those ideas and attitudes back. Surrender them. Drop them. Exchange the costume this part of you is wearing for that of a parent-type figure, but one who is deeply committed to your happiness, health, and success.

What’s ready to be birthed within you re this new moon requires fostering and nurturing. Are you going to give that job to an inner part of self who can’t imagine you can do anything right? One who is always telling you you don’t quite measure up no matter what you do? Or are you going to give it to an inner part of you who is patient, kind, firm, focused on the long-term, and deeply wants you to be happy, healthy, and successful? Each of these parts within you is a side of your inner Saturn. (See my book Saturn Returns: Thinking Astrologically for tips and tricks about upgrading how your inner judge works. Use code PG9Y82E2 at checkout to get 20% off.)

The choice is clear, of course – who wants to beat themselves up and never measure up?

With Pluto in Capricorn for a handful of years, we’ve had numerous opportunities to explore how inner criticism leads to feeling powerless in our lives (See Saturn in Libra Square Pluto in Capricorn and The Cardinal T-square MP3). We’ve also had plenty of chances to turn the corner on who’s in charge of us. “Who’s your daddy?” is a question Pluto is asking you so you can see where you’ve given your power away with and that the new moon in Capricorn asks you to feel into.

Note the recent protests regarding Wall Street and banks/big business and realize that we are all being asked to look with painfully realistic open eyes about to whom and why we have given away our power.

For many today, what wants and needs to be birthed is about the right sort of Capricorn attitude to use with self and others. Where are you firm with yourself and others and, more importantly, why? (Has that been shaped by past restriction and needless, heart-draining sacrifice? If so, are you willing to empower yourself by choosing structure for how you use your energy (the up side of restriction) and choosing to prioritize what to you is truly worth doing (the up side of sacrifice)?)

I invite you today to be realistic about how free you feel to be the loving sort of supportive, firm, nurturing parent figure for yourself that can ensure that all of your efforts result in more happiness, health, and success. How your inner Capricorn/Saturn self works is entirely determined by you.

Winter Solstice: Death and Rebirth

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011 | Astrology, Capricorn, Sun, Winter Soltice | No Comments

The Sun is about a half a degree of arc into the sign of Capricorn, meaning that the Winter Solstice was late last night.

Traditionally it’s about honoring the death and rebirth of the Sun. The solar principle within each of us parallels and echos this phenomenon, meaning that we have the opportunity to allow something within our own portion of Sun to die and allow something else to be born.

The solar principle relates to vitality, boldness, creativity, individuality, how we develop and express ego, and how willing we might be to inhabit ourselves fully and perform the experience of being a self.

Something in there for you has been trying the last week or so to die. What have you been noticing?

Is it about how you care for yourself?
Maybe it’s about your personal expression, how you shine?
Or is about how you show up in your world or how you define yourself as an individual?

Again, something within you has been trying to die. This time of year is when there is the least daylight and this is about each of us having the opportunity to spend more time with our inner selves. There is a moment of quiet available to each of us at the Solstice, yet we can only take advantage of it if we are willing to listen to our inner selves.

In order for something to be born, something must die. To give yourself to birth something new within you, you simply must let go of something old that doesn’t do anything for you, or at least no longer does. Because we’re talking about the Sun, it’s about identity.

Are you your history?
Are you the sum of your experiences?
Are you the people you came from or your ethnicity or religious background?
Are you the person others have either found you to be or expected you to be?
Are you the service you offer (or refuse to offer)?

Are you the work you do?
Are you what you have said (or what you feel you cannot say)?

Are you your relationships?

Are you your preferences?
Your passions?
Your fears?

The death and rebirth of the Sun now creates a window within for you to see and feel into your psychic basement with a bit more clarity. It’s not that there is light being shined down there, but that you can allow yourself to be more willing to see in the dark. You can let your eyes adjust to the minimal light that is in fact there.

It’s easy in the dark to assume that light is absent. This is, however, relative to our normal experiences and comfort levels in well-lit places. But there is usually a measure of light in the dark in which we’re simply not accustomed to operating.

Now is the day to release your expectations of what light means and offers and what it takes to operate as who you really are. Today, let the dark be not a place to avoid but one in which to let your inner eyes adjust to the dark. When your inner eyes adjust to the dark, you in fact begin to sense feeling as a valuable way of knowing.

Opening to this process will let you feel into something in your identity and self-expression that’s ready to die. Once you feel what that is, you’ll sense the possibility of birthing a truer, more authentic expression of your creative, shining self.
