Do You Need Psychic Protection, or Spiritual Immunity?

Saturday, May 30th, 2009 | Compassionate Awareness, Psychic | No Comments

I have no good reason why I went to see a horror movie tonight. Wanted an adrenaline kick? Wanted to test my ability to come back from scared and into grounded? Dunno. But the fear reminded me of some things.

If you listen to what you learn in popular culture, you learn that any one of us who makes a misstep (ouija boards, stealing from gypsies, etc.) can be subject to having to deal with evil spirits. Chased, haunted, invaded, possessed, whatever. And even if your rational mind knows and convinces the part of you available for rational convincing that it’s nonsense, you still retain imagery and some measure of jumpiness about bad things happening, the fear that comes with what we’re told is happening in the spirit world that can carry over to ours.

In my travels as a psychic medium, I’ve learned that you don’t need protection from bad things in that world. You need to build and maintain a certain relationship with yourself that turns around whatever fear you may carry into something else. We’re not susceptible to anything we say “no thanks” to, hard as that might be to believe.

Said another way, if you carry fear of bad things happening, you can totally make it come true. This is not just me believing in you - it’s natural law. Your thought, belief, attitude and feeling patterns create the world around you, create the experience you have of life. How much fear you experience has everything to do with how much fearful stuff you expect to find.

Now, I’ve seen some things while working in the spirit world, things that might make people nervous to have explained to them. I usually don’t talk about them because many people have been conditioned to fear the spirit world (and maybe because I like my Scorpionic secrets, maybe…). Most of it I’ve seen as part of my schooling to learn better grounding and boundaries - to stay in my body and have an intention of what I’ll do and what I’m available to be part of. These two lessons are critical not just to be a professional psychic medium, but for anyone even remotely identifying as an empath, medium, intuitive, seer, psychic, etc.

1. Staying in your body. You’re the master of your domain. Your body is your home, the physical vehicle that serves as HQ for all your bodies including mental, emotional and spiritual. Fear/fright/trauma makes us leave the body, jump out of it because the sensation/energy/emotion is, we feel, too much to bear. Experiences that bring us to leave our bodies fall in many categories (abuse, violence, sudden fright - anything traumatic), and part of the human path is to learn to stay in the body and experience the full range of experience available to us. All experiences serve to support and further the journey of the soul, and we have to be in our bodies to be healthy and function fully.

If you’ve experienced trauma in your life, you may need to recall parts of yourself back to you. Shamans and some mediums can help with this self-repair, yet keep in mind that for such retrieval and reconnection to occur, you must be willing to house all parts of you, including the ones that might be in some way freaked out. When I was 9 I was in a car accident, and part of me left. Not the most serious of accidents, but I was in shock afterward, which is a sign of some kind of jump out of the body, that also can be thought of in extreme cases as soul fragmentation or soul loss. We’ve all had accidents, falls, and some of us have experienced violence in one way or another.

Aside from accidents or sudden events that traumatize, soul fragmentation/loss can also take place after a gradual process of some life experience that incrementally becomes too much to bear. Witnessing a family member’s spiralling depression or emotion/mental/physical illness counts here, as well as any degenerative or chronic painful condition we watch loved ones and others go through.

All parts of you are needed to be you, to live the life you came here to live. If you suspect you could use some assistance, support or healing to bring back soul fragments to be more whole, call me and we’ll work to support you in becoming more whole.

2. What are you available for. Nothing can happen to you without your consent. Having an intention of what you’re available for sets the tone for your experience in any world, the human/3D one or the spirit world. Your intention defines a vibration and only people and experiences that resonate with your vibration will come to you.

If you’re setting an intention in your life and seeing the opposite coming to you, some part of you is carrying a different intention, or some part of you doesn’t believe that you can have/get to have/deserve what the rest of you is asking for. It’s that you’re confounding your own frequency, unconsciously jamming your own frequency. Don’t beat yourself up if this is happening; it’s not a call for alarm or self-flagellation. It just means that you’re carrying some unprocessed emotional/energetic/mental debris related to the issue at hand. And it’s yours to decide when it’s time to begin processing it and moving ahead.

This brings up an important point: You have to believe that you can have whatever you’re making yourself available for. I recently was shown parts of me that didn’t believe that the relationship stuff I was making myself available for would come. I figured this out by the patterns of what was coming (the easiest way to tell, by the way - the reality you create around you is a manifestation of what you believe you can have), and after some grumbling and staring at my shoes, set about looking at each of the things I was drawing to me and getting inside some underlying beliefs I didn’t know I had. And now I’m starting to see the results, as there’s no pattern; I’m just meeting some interesting people I like playing with.

Back to that other thing from a minute ago: Nothing can happen to you without your consent. This is a hard one for most folks. We’ve all had painful experiences about which we can’t imagine having given consent. Yet the soul sends out the message that a certain kind of experience, fitting a particular theme, needs to be had in order to learn about that facet of life, and if our personalities (shaped by conditioning) push that need out of consciousness or to the back burner long enough, something fitting that theme might rush in at us and leave us traumatized.

This is difficult for some because it seems like blaming the victim. Yet we’re talking about a spiritual view, and it requires that each of us accept responsibility for what happens to us, for everything that happens in our lives. So, I don’t blame anyone, but I help people understand how the call of the soul to have certain kinds of experiences cannot be put aside for any reason - we will manifest our lessons. This is why I’m so passionate about counseling with and teaching evolutionary astrology: Anything in your life not working is just as valuable from the soul’s perspective as something wonderful fitting the same symbolism - we might as well learn to shift our expectations of what life holds for us, upgrade what we think is going to come to us. This is the way we can create lives that teach our souls what we want to learn without engendering and repeating pain and trauma.

If you feel you could use some help and support in shifting what you’ve made yourself available for, call me for a consultation. I’m happy to support you in releasing attitudes, beliefs, thoughts and emotional imprinting that no longer works for you.

Jupiter-Neptune-Chiron Conjunction in Aquarius

Thursday, May 21st, 2009 | Astrology, Chiron, Compassionate Awareness | No Comments

There’s a lot to this, but here are a few notes:

What’s your relationship with your intuition? How can it be improved? How can it be improved by trusting things you can’t see, touch or prove?

Are you willing to see that everything that happens to you happens for a reason? That there’s a bigger picture you/your soul is weaving so you can learn more about the varieties of human experience? That even the painful things exist for a reason, and that they’re not value judgments about you? (That you’re not being punished?)

Where do you get your information? How strict is your brain about insisting on being the only source of information? Where in your body/being do you KNOW things? What other voices in you haven’t been heard but would like to?

If you’ve asked to grow/learn/change/shift/evolve, are you willing to adjust to the speed at which you’re capable of processing old junk and moving into the present? Are you willing to trust that the speed at which things are coming at you is the right speed; that you can in fact handle everything that’s coming down the pike? That as soon as you ask to learn, whatever comes to you IS the course of study?

Aquarius is the objective energy, the forward-looking energy. At worst, in Aquariusland we’re disassociated from our bodies and other people, objectively eyeing the world around us without being involved. At best, we’re able to work with the objectivity Aquarius offers to adjust whatever courses in our lives might not be working for our highest good, and channel our passion into creative, world-changing endeavors.

Jupiter’s the energy of faith and vision, imagining a better future. Neptune’s the energy of trust and surrender, of connecting to the fabric of the greater whole around us. Chiron’s the energy of shifting perspective and inviting new ways of feeling into things, understanding pain and suffering in new ways (ultimately, to get us to choose more compassion)…

What are you being asked to do?

Venus Retrograde

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009 | Astrology | No Comments

For me, Venus is a particularly important planet. It rules my Libra
rising, but I also have it in the sign of Libra along with three other
planets, and my Sun’s in my 2nd house, one naturally associated with it.
Even if you don’t have anything in Libra or Taurus or the 2nd and 7th
houses, you’ve got Venus in your chart somewhere, and therefore life.

In my last mailing to this list, I wrote about relationships. They’re
just one aspect of what Venus represents. Behind them, and behind other
Venusian things like money, skills & resources, are our values and
self-esteem. What we feel to be important, and how we feel about
ourselves. Which is to say that our relationships, money and skills all
point to our values and self-worth. I also wrote that retros are good
for reflection, and an inventory of things Venusian in your life,
whether it’s money, people or skills that need attention, is a great
place to start.

Venus has been retro for about a month as of this writing. The questions
below are obviously useful for humans at any time, but likely more
apparent during Venus retros, as these retros can be when Venus-informed
situations usually come to a head and lead (or beg) us to ask them. It’s
also true that during a retro our capacity to see into things, to
reflect and perceive new layers or aspects of situations, is heightened.
We can see things in lights we normally wouldn’t.

Where is my time and energy going?
Is what I’m doing important to me?
Am I putting my energy where I want it to go?
Do I need to rethink how I prioritize this stuff?
What about my original intention might need editing or upgrading?

Where is my money going?
Does where it’s going reflect what’s important to me?

What is it about my friendships and other relationships that’s important
to me?
What about them do I appreciate/like, and what am I less than pleased
by?
(And what, if I experience it just one more time, will make my head
explode?)
Do I really want to be in the relationships I’m in?
Why did I choose them?
What did I think I was getting myself into, and why did I want that?

Chances are that something related to these questions has come up for
you since early March. The Venus retro is over in about ten days, and
I’m sending this in case it’s less than obvious to you now that anything
in Venusian arenas seeming derailed or chaotic, or slowed down or come
to a halt, is an opportunity to understand more about how you run Venus
in your life. Maybe I’ve written it out also to remind myself that
looking into what’s going on is the way to understand how to take
responsibility for things and learn to work with and improve what seems
not to be working.

Lucifer in Aries (January 12th - April 2nd 2009)

Sunday, January 11th, 2009 | Astrology, Lucifer | 1 Comment

The asteroid Lucifer’s headed into Aries tomorrow, to be there until April 2nd.

Its long trek through Pisces (see this post, which includes an introduction to the collective meaning of Lucifer transits) asked us to advance our connection to Source by releasing our resistance to remembering that all things we can do with our egos are made more meaningful and rewarding if our egos are aligned with what we recognize as good, or perhaps The Good, if we are in service to something greater.

In Aries, our evolving connection to what’s greater than us is to be advanced by seeing how our expression of will and our urges to act without thinking might take us closer toward or farther away from Source, or from what we know is good.  Aries is about doing and assertion, beginnings and action (usually unmediated/unthinking/unplanned). For some of us, we’ll get to see the effects we can have by acting without thinking. If this is you, open to the idea that you’re getting to see that some part of you is not aligned with what you know is good, and that you need to see it in order to strengthen your connection to a commitment to serve.

Checking in with your true motivations is the remedy for such things. But with Lucifer in the sign of sticking your foot in your mouth (this is a metaphor) can certainly show you what that part of you is motivated by.

Another possibility is to see in your instinctive behavior how doubt can be used as a tool. Lucifer’s archetypal journey rests on employing his critical, mental faculties to ensure that everyone’s motivation is in the right place. Doubt and skepticism (in an older meaning that we’re used to these days) are integral to that critical mind, evaluating all facets of a situation or idea. As the asteroid transits Aries, the use of doubt can be a little more aggressive or assertive (depending on how you understand and experience Martian energy), or it can be filtered through the mind very quickly. Understand that everything you see about your behavior and ideas is useful to show you more about yourself…even if, in classic Arian fashion, something comes out a little half-baked.

If you find yourself doubting Marsy behavior you usually don’t doubt for an instant, know that this transit can support you in seeing the uses of doubt, namely to ensure that your motivation is what you’d like it to be, enabling you to connect more (or release some old resistance to connecting) to Source.

Eating Disorders Research

Sunday, December 28th, 2008 | Astrology, Compassionate Awareness, Karma, Research | 1 Comment

I’m looking for participants for a research project about the karmic sources of eating disorders.

The link between emotions and health, and the emotions we carry over from past lives as they affect our health now, has interested me for a while. I’ve decided to start my writing about health with this area, a personal interest of mine for as long as I can remember. The way I look at health in a chart is cutting edge, and I’m excited to share whatever I can to help people see health and wholeness in new ways.

If you have or have had any eating disorder (whether clinically diagnosed or living with a difficult or unhealthy relationship with food) and might consider participating, here’s the info:

What I’m Asking For: Your story and your birth data.
Your story would be a couple of (2, 3, 4?) paragraphs on your history with the eating disorder.
-how long you’ve had it.
-what was happening in your life when it began.
-what you understand the core feelings about it to be. (what do you feel/think it’s about? etc.)
-what if anything you’ve done to address it/heal, and what you felt during that process, whether you perceive that you were successful or not.
-whether you still have it or not. or are now living with it as an active part of your life, i mean.
Your birth data are day/month/year, time of day, and location of birth.

After reading that info from you, I may want to ask some questions before working on it, so perhaps also an e-mail dialogue sometime in the next few months.

What You’d Get
In a few months, a written chart analysis from me centered on the sources of the eating disorder as I see them through the lens of my understanding about karma.

My aim will be to give you some ideas about how to look at the situation differently, to support you in healing and moving beyond it. Or, if you no longer have it, to help you understand something new about why you had it.
You’d also be supporting me in developing tools to help other people with health concerns and issues. And isn’t that pretty rad??

What I’d Get
To use your (anonymous) story, (anonymous) birth data/chart and the analysis I send you in a writing project to help teach my approach to finding the karmic sources to health issues in a birth chart. It may be for my website or a journal or some other website, but will be published somewhere. I do work with clients on health issues frequently, but this is the first time I’ve organized a research project into a specific health issue.

Please write to me via my site to ask any questions you might have, and also please pass the word if you think of someone you know who might be interested.

E-mail me via my site (http://tdjacobs.com) if you’re interested in participating.
